Moharram is a month in which a fire is lit in the hearts of lovers of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) that will never be extinguished. The day of Ashura is a day considered to be a public holiday for over 1.2 billion people worldwide including the entire Indian subcontinent, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Bahrain, etc. and that is excluding those who choose to spend the day in mourning elsewhere. That comes as no surprise considering the fact that Ashura is truly "a day like no other".

To commemorate this tragic day, Sayed Mahdi Almodarresi was invited by the Alulbayt Foundation to London, UK to deliver lectures on this occasion both as a means of mourning and providing general Islamic education.

London is a city inhabited by hundreds of thousands of followers of Ahlulbayt, thus giving it a unique character during the month of Moharram where gatherings are held in all corners of the city to commemorate the tragic occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). The program held by the prestigious Alulbayt Foundation only added to the flavor by providing the only all-English language program in the area.

The program became an attraction to over a thousand lovers of Imam Hussein who came from different areas of London and even as far as cities such as Manchester and Birmingham. The hall rented by the Alulbayt Foundation was quickly filled with a diverse youth audience, forcing the organizers to utilize an adjacent hall to accommodate the overwhelming demand.

Extra lectures and seminars were also held outside this main program, in response to the numerous invitations made for Sayed Mahdi Almodarresi which were accepted in order to fulfill the duty of educating people about the true face of Islam in light of the teachings of Ahlulbayt and Imam Hussein in particular.
